Did a full reinstall of my game (Sims 3). Some how it got corrupted. Even in a completely vanilla game (with expansions and stuff packs but no CC), it keeps crashing. Now I have to completely uninstall everything, reinstall it all, and hope that the reinstall doesn't get corrupted again. FUUUUUUUU.
EDIT: So I uninstalled everything, deleted all traces of the game from my system, rebooted, and reinstalled the base game only. Loaded up the game to make sure everything was working ok with at least that. Loaded Sunset Valley...CRASH TO DESKTOP. I get EXTREMELY upset so I start thinking. I turn off DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for all but Windows Essentials. Load game back up. IT PLAYS FINE. Are you kidding me? Seriously it was the DEP settings that was causing this? So you mean I didn't need to uninstall and reinstall? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?
EDIT: Well, I finished installing all of the expansions and stuff packs, turned off DEP for everything (except Windows Essentials), and then loaded up the game. Loaded Appaloosa Plains, loaded random family, 45 seconds later CRASH TO DESKTOP. So apparently the setting to turn off DEP for everything except Windows Essentials doesn't actually work that well. The only way to seemingly get it to work was to manually select which programs to exempt. I don't know whose problem this is. EA's or Microsoft's? Either way, it is ridiculously annoying that I can't even run a completely vanilla game without having to adjust these settings.
